DEADLINE THE SATURDAY (6PM) BEFORE MEETING
Meetings: 2nd Thursday of month
Time: 7:00 PM
Location: St. Joe’s Social Hall, Amherst
If it is possible to be too hot to think, I’m pretty sure it is! But, there is lots to be thinking about. If you are interested in the NEORQC getaway, your class application can be turned in anytime now, but classes fill on a first come, first served basis. The theme this year is UFO’s. This month Kim Montagnese will be doing our program which I’m sure will be wonderful, but I’ll be working, so someone please fill me in. August is our picnic, bring a dish to share, beverage and tableservice will be provided. Even if you don’t have a project for show and tell that you’ve just finished, why not bring something that you are especially proud of, or maybe something just a bit unusual. Our show and tell is always so inspiring! Stay cool, Sue
The meeting was called to order at 7:05. We had one visitor, Melanie Majewski, who also became our 70th member. The minutes to last month’s meeting were accepted as printed in the newsletter.
Pam Scholle gave the treasurer’s report. The balance in the checking account is $5,849.12 with $524.37 of that belonging to Home of the Brave. Bev McBeth moved, and Sue Schillig seconded, that we accept the treasurer’s report as presented. Motion carried.
There were no reports from Community service, Challenges, or Home of the Brave, since the chairmen of those committees were not present.
Sue Schillig reported that Kim Montagnese will be our speaker in July.
Membership reported that we now have 70 members in the guild. We were reminded that our dues will go up to $25.00 in Sept.
Mary Lou Brown reported that there were 7 participants in our Fat Quarter Exchange. Along with the fabric, Mary Lou gave out an e-book with ideas for all you can do with fat quarters. Next month she will be sending out a survey sheet for everyone to fill out.
It was suggested that we all save any quilt related items that we no longer want to be sold at a table at the North Coast Needlers’ show in April.
Mary Lou Brown nominated, and Julie Bragg seconded, Maryann Grayson for President of our guild. Maryann graciously accepted. (How refreshing to hear someone say, “Sure, I’ll do it.”)
Sue Schillig announced the details for our NEORQC Getaway for 2013. It will be at Quail Hollow on Feb. 15, 16, and 17. The theme is UFO Getaway. Anyone interested can find a registration form on the NEORQC website.
Vicki Morris reminded everyone of the FAVA show and the display at the Oberlin Library. Julie Bragg said there are quilts all over Oberlin, including a display of quilts and dolls at Olla Mae’s.
Our speaker for the night was Sandi Whitaker from Quilts and Kreations.
It was moved and seconded that we adjourn the meeting and have show and tell. Motion carried.
Those who had something to show were Maryann Grayson, Bev MacBeth, Donna Clapper, Pat Mahoney, and Vicki Morris.

I liked this block that I recently saw in a magazine. It is offered free online here.
At the end of the newsletter I will attach a pattern offered free at this site.
The designer, Amanda Murphy, offers several free patterns as well as her own for purchase.
Remember the quilt that Lindy brought to guild a couple of months ago? She got a first place ribbon on it at the NQA show!
