Meeting Minutes
Jean Ruth called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.  There was one visitor.  The program for the evening was Nine Nifty Notions, which was presented by K.C. from the Little Red Quilt House in Medina.  K.C. started by pointing out that the shop has been open since 2009, and they offer a nice selection of traditional quilting fabrics, patterns, kits, and of course, NOTIONS.  The shop is located at 3616 Ridge Road in Medina.  Following a very informative and entertaining presentation there was lots of shopping to be had.  K.C. also distributed a generous 20% coupon for the shop!

Minutes:  Jean asked if there were any changes to the February minutes, and since none were noted the minutes were approved.

Treasurer Report:  It was reported that $7,610.15 in our Treasury, with the Home of the Brave at $1,085.55 and Quilts of Valor at $203.36.  Vickie Morris made a motion to approve the financial report, which was seconded by Libby Betounes. The Motion passed.

Community Service:  Teri Whidden was present with several quilt kits for anyone interested in helping out.

Future Programs:  MaryAnn Grayson informed the group that in April will have either Quilter’s Source or Debbie Lee.  Also, in April and May, Gloria Kellon will be teaching classes during the day on making her glorious jackets and vests.  There was a sign up tonight for the classes.  Mary Ann reminded the group of the August AQS Trip.

Membership:  No Report.

Home of the Brave: No Report.

Quilts of Valor:  It was reported that the February 22nd event was wonderful and very moving!! They presented Quilts of Valor to five local veterans on Monday night in a wonderful ceremony. A thank you note from one of the recipients was read to the group.  It was also shared that there was another beautiful note of gratitude in the Newsletter that just came out.
Fat Quarter Exchange:  Kelly Grace reported that she had 13 sign ups as of tonight and she would keep taking names until next month.

Quilt Show 2016:  Julie Bragg and Karen Neuschaefer reported that pre-entry sign up forms would be distributed at the April meeting as they need 150 quilts for the show.  Everyone was welcome to sign up to bring up to 3 quilts each.  The form would ask you to list your quilts and the dimensions for each.  Julie indicated that there would also be a line on the form where you can enter the number of additional quilts you could bring if they find they need more quilts.  Julie also stressed that she really needs the dimensions as she uses those to chart out the quilt show layout.  There were a few questions for the Show Committee:

1) Can we submit quilted garments?  YES.
2) Can we submit antique quilts?  YES, but don’t submit items that are too fragile to be hung up using clips.
3) Could you use antique dress forms to display?  YES

Julie reported that she would be out of town in April so the next Quilt Show Committee meeting would be held in May @ 6:00 p.m. before the regular guild meeting.

Show & Tell:  There were 21 quilts, 5 bibs, 7 bags, and 1 door hanging.

There was a motion to adjourn the meeting, which carried.

Respectfully submitted,
Chris Yoo.

Janet Alderman

Just before Easter I was able to mail out 9 more quilts to the Columbus Survivor Outreach Service Coordinator who plans on delivering the quilts to 4 of our fallen hero’s families.  That now brings our number to 43!!!  (Though one more is needed for a father if she can locate him.)

Don’t faint but I WILL BE ATTENDING the guild meeting this Thursday.  If you enjoy hand stitching the bindings (I’ll have them sewn on by machine)  please come early.  I have 8 quilts that will be completed when the bindings have been sewn.  We can sew and chat as we work away.  Feel free to bring something to nibble or drink (just make sure the beverage has a lid on the container.)   I will be there around 4pm.  I’ll probably eat a late and larger lunch.

I truly want to thank the outpouring of support.  We are making such a difference.

Notes from the President
Well, Mother Nature has done it again, which means we can stay in the house and quilt away. We had a great time in West Virgina and even got the class project done and will have for show and tell. I hope this letter finds everyone well and coming to the meeting Thursday to have fun. My understanding is that we will have a class on either a jacket or a vest hopefully the things we need will be in this newsletter.Hope to see you all Thursday.

Speaker is a surprise!

MaryAnn needs to hear from anyone that plans on taking the jacket class. Please call her (440-807-7032) ASAP for details. Six have already signed up and class is 10:30 am to 3:00 pm in April and May. Cost is $35.

Youth Corner
Jean RuthThe girls met during spring break and sewed away. A lot of them are still learning but the quarter inch seams are coming along. We plan to meet on the 23rd of April at 10:00 a.m. For a brown bag lunch—bring a sewing machine if you have one. Also looking at the 23rd of May, same place and time and requirements as April.

We’ve had a pretty productive few weeks! I have three tops quilted and will  be bringing them to the meeting. If you are interested in binding them let me know.

We had another top and presentation case donated by Lindy Sleasman. Also a complete quilt by former member Donna Clapper. Thank you ladies, thank you!

We also had several members volunteer their time at the Original Sewing and Quilt Expo in Cleveland last week! Thank you for all your hard work, it was so much FUN!! The tops that were made there will be going to AMERICA QUILTS EXPO in Des Moines later in May.

Plans are moving ahead for the Quilts of Valor fundraiser in November. I will furnish details as I get them.

Also, we will plan to do another QoV presentation in June or July.

Thank you all so much for making the last presentation an overwhelming success!
